The Colne Valley Trust contd.......

The Colne Valley Trust promotes, facilitates and supports the economic, social and environmental regeneration of the Colne Valley area to the west of Huddersfield.

Economic regeneration aims to encourage new businesses into the Valley and to help existing businesses to thrive. It also helps to ensure that the local workforce has appropriate skills to enable them to find and keep a job and to compete effectively in the world of work.
Community regeneration seeks to provide a full range of support for community based interest groups and enable new groups to set up and become self sufficient. We know of over 90 Valley based community organisations many of whom we are in touch with on a regular basis.
Environmental regeneration is concerned with maintaining, improving and developing our valley in a sustainable way to ensure those things we currently have and enjoy are available to future generations. Our definition

of environment is very broad and includes such issues as work, health, crime, leisure and the local character.
The Colne Valley Trust Tourist Information Centre sells maps, walking booklets and local history publications of the Colne Valley. Leaflets are available covering numerous local events in the region, including local bus and train timetables. CVT is a member of the Pennine Yorkshire Tourism Association, which seeks to promote Kirklees and Calderdale as tourist destinations.
